Meet near climbing rocks (SW side of Skinner Butte)
Removal of selected conifers and invasive tree species for native oak release.
2008 Summer Tree Walks
- May 31 - Stewart street Oak savanna restoration
Meet at 1:00 pm at the parking lot of Carl's Junior at the corner of W11th and Bailey Hill.
This walk will make you feel like you landed in the Willamette valley 150 years ago. Come and discover one of the nicest and unknown oak savanna in Eugene. This area started to be restored towards its original shape two years ago, you'll see the early results of blackberry eradication, new oak planting and witness some of the largest California black oaks in Eugene.

June 21st - New Greenway at the Mill race
Meet at 1:00 pm at the corner of Lindley and Bardell street (south of MLK Bvd, east of Autzen stadium).
We'll quickly be on the bike path to walk towards the Mill race. From Knickerbocker Bike Bridge and walking "downstream" along the river, we'll see the evolution of the vast planting the Stream Team has done for the past few years. Hundreds of native plants and trees selected to recreate a riparian zone have flourished and are already casting some shade on the pedestrians and bicyclists.

September 20 - Bus tour of the Legacy Trees Pt. 1
Meet at 1:00 pm on the south side of Borders on Coburg road.
It's time to meet our Legacy Trees! This time, we plan to rent a mini bus and invite you to come along to meet our local champions. This first part will focus on the five northern trees; starting by the County Farm Road Turkish filbert and finishing by the Gillespie Butte Oregon white oaks. The tour might take longer than our usual two hour walks and seats will be limited! Be prepared to carpool and follow the bus if necessary. meet at 1:00 pm on the south side of Borders on Coburg road.

October 4 - Bus tour of the Legacy Trees Pt. 2
Meet in the parking lot of the Rose Garden at 1:00 pm.
We'll finish the season by visiting the next 6 Legacy Trees located more in the center of our town. This time, the bus will start from the Owen Rose Garden (northern end of Jefferson street) after paying our respect to our famous Owen Cherry tree!
